WAFP (Baton Rouge) v. Louisiana State University

WAFB sued to obtain copies of NIL endorsement contracts on file with the school's athletic department that had been entered into by LSU athletes and benefactors known to LSU.   LSU contended that disclosure was prohibited because the contracts were FERPA-protected records and contained private, confidential information regarding an enrolled student athlete.  WAFB maintained that disclosure was compelled on the basis that these were public reco State's NIL law did not provide an exception to the
